Disability Unit
The Centre of Special Education, SNDT Women’s University had been selected by
the University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish a Disability Unit under its
Scheme of Higher Education for Persons with Special Needs (HEPSN) in order that
such opportunities are made available to the people with disabilities. The Unit,
has been established to develop awareness about needs of persons with
disabilities within the University and College system and to provide necessary
guidance and counseling to the disabled individuals, joining higher education.
Arushi
The Learning Centre for Children with Special Needs:
An Experimental Learning Centre where a team of qualified, experienced,
dedicated teachers, caters to children with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental
Retardation, Learning Disabilities, Pervasive Developmental Disorders and those
who are Slow Learners. The levels of education include classes at early
intervention, preprimary, intermediate, prevocational, preparatory National
Institute of Open Schooling.
CARE (Compensatory And Remedial Education)
A unit set up to deal with the varied educational to behavioral needs of
children with Learning Disabilities. Through the development of appropriate
learning strategies & behavior management techniques students are prepared for
National Institute of Open Schooling.
Research and Assessment Unit
A diagnostic unit for assessing children with problems in learning and poor
scholastic performance, This unit works like an outpatient department, through
appointments only. Cases are referred by parents, teachers, doctors or
therapists. The assessment is done for the purpose of placement and
intervention. |
